For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. (John 3:16)

Our Mission

Broadmoor Presbyterian Church exists by the grace of the Triune God to discover and fulfill the Father’s will in our lives and in the world. Called by Jesus Christ to be His disciples and led by the Holy Spirit, we commit our lives to gather, worship, study God’s word, pray, love, share, and to further the work of Christ in the world, making disciples of all people.

History of Broadmoor Presbyterian in Shreveport

Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. The second is this: Love your neighbor as yourself. There is no commandment greater than these. (Mark 12:30-31)

On November 17, 1947, 139 persons signed as Charter Members of the newly organized Broadmoor Presbyterian Church. Charter Members were courageous, far-sighted people who realized the need for a church in one of the fastest-growing subdivisions in the city. The first services in the old Broadmoor Theater on Youree Drive.

The Church purchased 3.3 acres on Grover Place, between Russell and Stuart Streets. An Army chapel was moved from Alexandria to serve until a new sanctuary could be built. In 1970, when the sanctuary was complete, the chapel was skidded eastward to serve as a Fellowship Hall.  It was replaced with today’s Fellowship Hall, complete with gymnasium, kitchen and church offices.

Music has always been an important part of Broadmoor. In 1980, a 28-rank Allen pipe organ was installed. It was first played at the Palm Sunday Worship Service in 1982.  Additional ranks have since been added.
