Rev. Jim Freeman takes a look at how God assigns responsibilities. He contrasts Moses’ response as God speaks from a burning bush to tell him that he was selected to lead his people out of Egypt with his very demanding directions in Paul’s letter to the church at Rome about how to live, “outdoing one another in showing love”. As an aside, Pastor Freeman contrasts these leadership requirements with those faced by the iconic technology leader, Steve Jobs. What “job” is God looking to us to do in today’s world?

Behold! The Kawai Grand Piano Has Arrived from Frank Moore on Vimeo.

Jean Rowell rented a grand piano for her students’ recital May 22nd. The following Sunday she played it in church. The sound was wonderful. Pastor Dianne Brown told the Congregation, somewhat off-the-cuff, “If you enjoyed the grand piano and want to donate one, we will gladly accept it”. Bless the Lord, the next week a church member did just that . . . donated a grand piano.

This video is the story of how the Church prepared for and received this beautiful K. Kawai model RX-2 BLAC Classic 5’ 10” grand piano. It also includes Jean Rowell giving a brief playing demo of Kawai’s classic sound and action.

James D. “Jim” Freeman is a third-generation Presbyterian minister. He and his wife, the Rev. Dr. Debbie Carl Freeman, have a daughter, Lindsay (20) who has mixed college with work, and a son, William (17) who will graduate from Little Rock Central High next year.

Jim looks forward to participating in Broadmoor’s ministry to the wider community, building on the pastoral legacy of Dianne Brown. His first service here at Broadmoor will be July 24, 2011. Members and visitors are invited to welcome him then.

Classical Archives ™ points out that, “Antonio Vivaldi’s popular Double Trumpet Concerto in C major, RV 537, is remarkable in that the work itself is among Vivaldi’s best-known creations and yet we know practically nothing about it. The source of this concerto is a single manuscript located in the Renzo Giordano Collection at the National Library of Turin, a large gathering of manuscripts believed to preserve what is left of the ones Vivaldi himself accumulated during his lifetime.” Shreveport Symphony musicians Rick Rowell and Mike Scarlato are performing on piccolo trumpets at Broadmoor Presbyterian Church, Shreveport, LA.
